These terms govern your use of TransferRoute. They are written in plain language on purpose. By using the site, you agree to them.
1. Who We Are and Acceptance
TransferRoute (the "Service") is operated by TransferRoute LLC, a California limited liability company. By using the Service you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, do not use it. You must be at least 13 to use the Service. If you are under 18, use the Service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian, and review these terms with them.
2. The Service
TransferRoute is a personal planning tool for community college students considering transfer. The free tier includes the overview with a limited preview of school matches and scholarships, plus the articulation and coursework reference tools. A Premium subscription unlocks the rest (Section 3).
Use the Service for your own educational planning. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. Do not use the Service for anything unlawful; Section 10 covers acceptable use in detail.
3. Premium Subscriptions and Billing
Premium costs $12.99 per month or $109.99 per year, billed by Stripe through Stripe Checkout; Stripe's own terms also apply to billing, and we never see your card numbers. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Premium currently includes all school matches and likelihood details, the full scholarship list, the Transfer Path planner and Game Plan, budget and cost planning, application tracking, deadlines, tips and application help, and cross-device cloud sync; the exact feature set may evolve over time.
You can cancel anytime through the Stripe billing portal, reachable from Settings. Canceling stops future renewals, and Premium access continues through the end of the period you already paid for. We do not give partial-period refunds; payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. If something went wrong with your billing, contact contact@transferroute.org and we will look at it.
If we change prices, the new price applies from your next renewal at the earliest, and we will post notice on the site or email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. The Service comes with no uptime guarantee (Section 13).
4. Accounts, Sync, and Your Data
Your planning data is stored in your browser by default. If you create an optional account, it syncs to our database so it follows you across devices. Sign-in uses an emailed magic link or Google sign-in; keep that email account secure, since anyone who controls it can sign in as you.
Sync is best-effort: when the same data is edited on two devices, the newer copy wins, and an outage or conflict can occasionally cost an edit. Export or back up work you cannot afford to lose; Settings offers a JSON export of your profile and savings transactions. If you delete your account, cancel any active subscription in the billing portal first; deleting the account does not cancel billing on its own. We may suspend or terminate accounts used for abuse, scraping, or attempts to bypass payment. See the Privacy Policy for data details.
5. Your Content
What you put into TransferRoute (an uploaded ASSIST agreement, notes in the essay and recommendation trackers, descriptions in your profile) remains yours. You grant us the limited license needed to store, process, sync, and display that content back to you, which is all we use it for. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload.
6. Planning Estimates, Not Advice
Readiness scores, likelihood figures and labels ("Strong Match", "Match", "Reach"), Game Plan summaries, GPA targets, cost estimates, scholarship matches, and articulation suggestions are informational estimates built from public data and the information you provide. They are not predictions, promises, or guarantees of admission, aid, or any other outcome, and they should never be the sole basis for an academic, financial, or enrollment decision.
TransferRoute does not provide academic counseling, financial aid advice, tax advice, immigration advice, or legal advice. Decisions with real consequences deserve a conversation with your college counselor or another qualified professional.
7. Data Accuracy and Verification
Tuition and fees, deadlines, scholarship amounts and eligibility, GPA minimums, admit rates, and articulation and GE mappings are compiled from official public sources (UC, CSU, CCCCO, C-ID, and school and scholarship provider sites), curated by hand, and verified on the dates labeled in the app. They change without notice and can be wrong or stale. The "estimate" tags and verified-on dates shown in the app are the operative signals of how fresh a number is; treat anything without a recent date with extra skepticism.
Verify every number, requirement, and date against the official source before acting on it. TransferRoute is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any university or college, the University of California, the California State University, ASSIST.org, any scholarship provider, or any government agency. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for missed deadlines, denied admission, lost financial aid, or any decision made in reliance on the data (Sections 13 and 14).
8. Scholarship Matching
A scholarship "match" means the profile criteria you entered overlap with the eligibility rules the provider has published. It is not an award, a pre-qualification, or an endorsement by us or by the provider. Providers change, pause, or discontinue programs without telling us. TransferRoute does not administer any scholarship and does not guarantee you will receive any award. Confirm requirements and deadlines on the provider's own site before applying.
9. TAG and Guaranteed Admission Programs
Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG), ADT-based CSU admission, and similar programs belong to the universities that run them, each with its own requirements, filing windows, and fine print. TransferRoute's TAG callouts, eligibility hints, and deadline entries are planning aids. Completing a checklist in our app does not by itself guarantee admission anywhere; the official program terms control, and only the university decides. File through the official channels and confirm the rules there.
10. Acceptable Use
Do not scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the Service's data or content; resell or republish the dataset; access the Service with bots or other automated clients (normal search engine indexing excepted); probe, disable, or circumvent the Premium gate or any other technical protection; abuse the forms or APIs; or use the Service for anything unlawful. We may block traffic, suspend or terminate accounts, and cancel subscriptions of violators.
11. Affiliates and Referrals
The Partner Program described on the Partners page requires an application and our approval. Commission rates, tiers, and payout mechanics have not been finalized; they will be set out in separate written affiliate terms before any commissions are paid, and nothing on the site is a promise of earnings until those terms exist. Affiliates must follow FTC disclosure rules and plainly state their material connection to TransferRoute wherever they share a link. We may change or end the Partner Program and the student referral program at any time; referral tags alone entitle no one to compensation.
12. Intellectual Property
The TransferRoute name, design, code, and original written content belong to TransferRoute LLC. University names, logos, and trademarks shown in the Service belong to their institutions and appear for identification only.
13. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, current, or error-free, or that the Service will be uninterrupted. Deadlines, costs, and requirements change frequently; confirm them independently.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TransferRoute LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the Service, including admissions outcomes, financial outcomes, lost aid, or missed deadlines. Our total liability for all claims combined is capped at the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. You use the Service at your own risk.
15. Indemnification
If your misuse of the Service, your violation of these terms, or content you upload causes a third party to bring a claim against TransferRoute LLC, you agree to cover the resulting costs and damages.
16. The iOS App
If you use TransferRoute through the iOS app, these terms are between you and TransferRoute LLC, not Apple. Apple is not a party to these terms, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce this section as a third-party beneficiary. Your App Store terms also govern the download itself.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by California law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California.
18. Severability
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest stays in effect.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Changes take effect when posted, shown by the "Last updated" date above. If you keep using the Service after an update, the revised terms apply.
